Students of
blackjack history will recall that blackjack got its name from a special 10-to-1 bonus that used to be awarded for a Jack and Ace of Spades. The 10-to-1 bonus has faded into history, but the name of the game of "Black Jack," or "Blackjack," has endured. Now, with Bonus Blackjack, the game of blackjack has, in a sense, returned to its roots, except that it's five times better: instead of a 10-to-1 bonus, there is now a 50-to-1 bonus for the Jack and Ace of Spades.
Bonus Blackjack is played with two decks of cards. The
Bonus Blackjack rules provide that the dealer must hit on soft 17. You may double down on any two cards, and you may split up to three times, but you may split aces only once, and a split ace can receive only one more card. You may double down after splitting. The goal, as in all
online blackjack games, is to beat the dealer by getting closer to 21 without going over.
What makes Bonus Blackjack such a different and exciting
online casino game is, as the name suggests, the special bonus bet. You make a bonus bet by clicking on the Jackpot circle on the virtual blackjack table. The bonus bet is optional, and it can be any amount you want: the same as your regular blackjack bet or bigger or smaller.
The outcome of the bonus bet is determined by the first two cards that you are dealt in the Bonus Blackjack game.
- If you make the bonus bet in addition to your regular blackjack bet, and the first two cards you receive are two cards of the same suit, you win a 5-to-2 payout on your bonus bet.
- If you receive a Jack and Ace of the same suit, you win a 25-to-1 payout on the bonus bet. This is in addition to the 3-to-2 payout you will get for blackjack on your regular bet.
- Best of all, if you get a Jack and Ace of Spades, you win a 50-to-1 payout on the bonus bet in addition to the 3-2 blackjack payout on your regular blackjack bet.
