The famous poker adage tells us “You got to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em”. You can put this age-old wisdom to work when you play
online Cyberstud Poker, the
online poker game in which knowing when to hold ‘em and knowing when to fold ‘em is the key to coming out a long-term winner in the
online casino.
You start your online Cyberstud Poker game by selecting a coin size and placing your Ante bet. You then click the Deal button, and you will receive five cards and the dealer receives one. Now it is time to make a decision: Fold or Call.
If you click the Fold button, you lose your Ante and the game is over. The dealer will receive his four additional cards, but this is just for show; you already know that you lost the poker game and your Ante, and it is time to start a new game of Cyberstud Poker.
If you click the Call button, a Call Bet equal to double your Ante will be put on the virtual poker table, and the dealer will receive four more cards to make a full five-card poker hand. The dealer’s hand and your hand are then compared to determine the Cyberstud Poker winner.
The dealer needs a hand of at least an Ace-King to qualify in online Cyberstud Poker.
If you Called and the dealer does NOT qualify, then, regardless of the relative strength of the two poker hands, you win a 1-to-1 payout on your Ante, and your Call Bet is returned to you with no gain or loss.
If you Called and the dealer DOES qualify, and your hand BEATS the dealer’s hand, then you win a 1-to-1 payout on your Ante, and you win a payout on your Call Bet based on your
poker hand according to the following Pay Table:
- Ace-King: 1-to-1
- One Pair: 1-to-1
- Two Pairs: 1-to-1
- Three of a Kind: 3-to-1
- Straight: 5-to-1
- Flush: 9-to-1
- Full House: 14-to-1
- Four of a Kind: 99-to-1
- Straight Flush: 199-to-1
- Royal Flush: 999-to-1
The final possibility, of course, is that the dealer qualifies and has a stronger hand than yours. In that case, you lose both your Ante and your Call Bet and must gather your courage to play another game of Cyberstud Poker online.
The goal of
Cyberstud Poker strategy is not to win every hand of Cyberstud Poker. That is simply impossible. Instead, the goal is to recognize that you are going to win some hands and lose some hands, but to try to keep your losing bets small while making your winning bets big. In other words, knowing when to Fold (and accepting the small loss) and knowing when to Call (and going for a win but at the risk of a bigger loss) is the key to coming out ahead over the long run of
playing Cyberstud Poker online.
The strategy experts recommend following this three-part Cyberstud Poker strategy:
1. Always Call if you have a pair or better.
2. Always Fold if have less than Ace-King in your hand.
3. If you have an Ace-King — equivalent to the dealer’s qualifying hand — you should call if either of these conditions applies:
- You have a Jack or a Queen in your hand.
- The dealer’s card matches one of your cards (lowering the probability that the dealer has a pair).
Knowing when to hold ‘em and knowing when to fold ‘em is the key to long-term success when playing Cyberstud Poker in the online casino.
