Tennis Fans Are Getting Excited about the Australian Open and AllYouBet Sportsbook

All Slots Casino Press Desk
The Australian Open is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments that compose the crown of the professional tennis tour. The 2012 Open is well underway and has already seen some exciting action both on the courts and at the AllYouBet sportsbook, with even more excitement sure to come before the tournament concludes with the men’s and women’s final matches on 28 and 29 January.

In the men’s tournament, defending champion and number 1 seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia has already won the Australian Open three times and is looking to add a fourth trophy to his collection. He rolled right over Paolo Lorenzi of Italy for an easy first-round win, and is heavily favoured to do the same to Santiago Giraldo of Columbia in the second round.

Meanwhile, number 2 seed Rafael Nadal of Spain suffered a mysterious knee injury while – of all things – sitting on a chair in his hotel room. The injury did not stop Nadal from winning his first-round match, but wagerers are still wondering how serious the injury really is and how it will affect Nadal’s play in the later and more challenging rounds of the tournament.

The biggest upset so far was the defeat of 8th-seeded American Mardy Fish by unseeded Columbian Alejandro Falla in straight sets. Of course, tennis being tennis, it is not unlikely that more upsets will occur as the tournament progresses. Unexpected upsets is a big part of what makes sports betting so adventurous.

Over on the women’s side, the biggest upset was at the expense of the Australian Samantha Stosur, the 6th seed and a popular hometown favourite, who fell in the first round to Sorana Cirstea of Romania. The four top-seeded women – Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, Victoria Azarenka of Bulgaria, and Maria Sharapova of Russia – all had easy straight-set victories in the first round, as did defending champion Kim Clijsters of Belgium and 2010 champion Serena Williams of the United States.
